COMPULSORY MEET AND GREET

I know I’d want my fur baby to feel comfortable first – after all, they’re family – so a one-hour meet and greet with Honey & Peggy is required before any bookings can be confirmed. This visit is just for the dogs, due to Honey’s anxiousness around strangers, giving your fur baby time to explore the home and meet Honey and Peggy while you wait nearby or enjoy a coffee locally.

ABOUT

Where it all started

Sam 1.jpg

I’ve always loved animals – from hamsters and parrots to horses and cats – but my true love of dogs began back in 1989 when my family brought home an Old English Sheepdog puppy, Keba. She was a bundle of fluff who completely stole my heart. Losing her at a young age left a big gap in my life, and although work and family kept me busy over the years, I never stopped dreaming of having another dog to love.

For a long time, it wasn’t possible – rented accommodation and life’s circumstances meant we had to wait. Finally, in 2020, we were able to welcome Honey, a beautiful Bosnian street dog rescued through the AAFA. She was shy and nervous at first, comfortable only with me and my husband due to her difficult beginnings, but with time and patience she grew into the gentle, loving companion we know today.

Two years later, Peggy joined our family – a Spaniel–Shih Tzu cross who brought even more fun, affection, and balance into our lives. Honey and Peggy have been inseparable ever since.

After eight years in hospitality – often finding myself chatting more to customers’ dogs than their owners – moving into our current home finally gave me the chance to turn my lifelong passion for dogs into something real. With a bright open-plan living area, sunny conservatory, and large secure garden, I started Dog Dotty – a place where dogs are treated as part of our family. Whether it’s a day of care or an overnight stay, your fur baby will be loved and cared for as if they were my own.

ABOUT

Meet Honey

Honey (formerly Saskia) is a 7-year-old Bosnian street dog who came to us through the AAFA. We fell in love with her from just a couple of photos and drove all the way to Wales to
bring her home. At first, she was extremely nervous – she hid under a bush in the garden for weeks and barely made a sound – but with patience, gentle reassurance, and plenty of love, she slowly learned she was safe.

Honey is still very anxious around humans due to her difficult past before being rescued. For her comfort and wellbeing, you may not meet her in person. Although she’s nervous around people, she absolutely adores other dogs – and you’ll see her happy, gentle nature shine through in the regular updates and photos I share. This ensures she always feels secure in her own space.

These days Honey enjoys sofa cuddles, kisses, and plenty of sniff-filled walks (her favourite activity!). She still has some quirks and triggers from her past, but to us she’s truly one of a kind – our beautiful, brave girl.

ABOUT

Meet Peggy

Peggy is around 5 years old and is a Spaniel–Shih Tzu cross. We adopted her from a UK rescuer, and while her past isn’t fully known, we believe she may have been used for breeding. When she first came home, she was nervous and in poor condition, but after some much-needed love and care (and a trip to the vet), she quickly blossomed into the affectionate, playful girl she is today.

Peggy is full of character – she adores cuddles, loves chasing a ball, and always keeps us smiling. She and Honey are the best of friends, though Peggy happily lets Honey be the boss!
